The projects explores the existence of endemics around HIV -infection. A syndemic is the co-occurrence of two or more health conditions that negatively impact each other, while this negative interaction is driven by structural factors, such as poverty, climate change and violence.
The project investigates a syndemic of HIV, hypertension, diabetes and mental disorder in Eswatini, and between HIV and tuberculosis in Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Lesotho, and South Africa.
Apart form exploring the existence of a syndemic in these settings, the project has a strong emphasis on methodological approaches for proper analysis of data surrounding a syndemic
